As put forth in this class, there have been “racialized attacks” perpetrated against people of Asian descent globally, but particularly in the United States. Asian American scholars in Asian American Studies have pointed out this historical pattern. After reading the history of Asians in the United States and understanding “foreigner racialization” by Angelo Ancheta and the notion of “perpetual foreigner” associated with people of Asian descent in the U.S., what would you say to people who might articulate, “Asians are being too sensitive about this. Other people are also victimized by hatred?” IAre Asian Americans being too sensitive? If so, why and how? If not, why and, how?
