Re: Email and Text Communications
Date: July 5, 2022
Thank you all for the support and assistance you are providing to enhance the production of our station. I recognize that the life of an intern is full, with the responsibilities of school and the dedicated hours you devote to your internship.
As a communications major, I am sure you recognize the importance of clear and precise deliverance of information. I am requesting that with every form of communication, whether email or text, we all make a better effort when addressing a concern or expressing a thought. When sending or responding to a text or email, take a moment to ensure the message is clear, well written, grammatically correct, and respectfully delivered.
When writing, always focus on the following:
Be concise, professional, and accurate.
Check grammar and spelling.
Show appreciation and gratitude when replying.
Your expressions are a reflection of this station. The station’s goal is to have the public rely on the news and information we deliver as accurate and reliable. Your participation in our program is also an extension of who we are. So please make every text or email trustworthy, clear, expressive, and well written.
As a way to help others and to build on your experience, I am inviting all interns for any suggestions to improve written communication skills. I am composing a WXFY Intern Handbook. If you do have any suggestions, please forward them to my email address. If there are any other areas you wish to comment on that would be helpful to others, please include them as well.
Communication is fundamental to the existence of our station. Let’s continue to share our news and expressions with the world. Thank you for your continuing dedication and enthusiasm. Keep up the good work!
