Developing
a scientific poster for presentation at conferences and meetings is one of the
earliest and most important steps in postgraduate development. Develop a
scientific poster, on a single PowerPoint slide, presenting the management of
the following case:
A
36-year-old type 1 diabetic male amateur athlete treated with basal-bolus (TDS
short-acting and OD basal long-acting insulin) who is completing a marathon for
the first time. He has no comorbidities and is reasonably fit. His HbA1c is 7%
(53 mmol/mol).
Be
as imaginative as you wish in this case and feel free to make up any data
relating to his management. Importantly, discuss the role of the
multidisciplinary team in his management.
Feel free to be
imaginative regarding the presentation. The poster should be approximately 500
words and be categorized into ‘Introduction’, ‘Case Report’, ‘Review’ and
‘Conclusion’. You may want to illustrate the poster with images, algorithms, or
tables. Try to limit your references to 3-5.
