Introduction

The implementation of the information system change is vital to positively affect care delivery outcomes in the organization. It is important that every medical professional and other stakeholders should understand the resources and limitations of the organization so they can properly allocate resources, make right decisions, and ultimately realize the goals of the institution. In order to implement the necessary information system change, a needs assessment is necessary to identify the problems and issues on the implementation and support for workflow and communication changes. Workflow and communication changes happen and are vital to the operations to accommodate the needs of the patients and clienteles. Effective communication is vital to any healthcare workflow. Due to the complexity of healthcare delivery, standardized communication tools are necessary to be utilized by every member to avoid accidents and unsafe working conditions. There is an inherent limitation of what medical professionals can perform. In the same manner, it is necessary for them to manage every critical situation. The information system change will help address these problems as programs will be created, appropriately customized to the employees needs and to the patient’s expectation of a positive outcome of care services.

Questions and Explanation

Conducting the needs assessment for the organization will help identify what needs to be accomplished through planned strategies and prioritizing of resources.

Implementation and support for workflow and communication changes.

The organization must be realistic on what capacity we can deliver the intended services. Are there enough resources? Are the methods updated and efficient based on the current volume of patients and customers? There is the need to assess the current state of healthcare service delivery and enhance it through the desired information system that could result to high quality care and positive patient outcome. Among the target goals is reduced time spent on manual processes and administrative tasks. The workflows are streamlined effectively in treating the patient and followed up with timely communication between the patient and the provider for immediate care and avoid readmission (Zheng, 2020). The desire is for the healthcare professionals to follow an efficient workflow and focused on the delivery of high-quality care despite the changing environment of the practice.

Understanding the current state and identifying the goals.

Healthcare professionals should have immediate access to the patient database to allow uninterrupted work flow. With an efficient and secure database management under the information system change, it will allow the healthcare professionals to access the patient’s medical records safely and remotely (Carreon, 2019). A cloud storage solution will be part of the new system change to help centralize the access and content storing of workflow applications and medical records. The integration of the electronic health record system will have a significant impact in healthcare workflow enabling remote access at any time.

Summary and Conclusion

The benefits of the information system change for efficient workflow and effective communication is wide-ranging for the organization. This is not just about the benefits for the healthcare professionals and their patients, but also for better patient safety practice, staff efficacy, and overall care delivery outcome. The alignment of the information system change with the organization’s vision allows the organization to see a future that overcomes challenges, economic circumstances, and leadership changes (Aramide et al., 2020). This appeals to the healthcare professionals, patients, customers, and other stakeholders to continue to aspire for the best condition and service of the workplace. Healthcare professionals improve their decision-making process while the patients and customers can expect quality service. In the same manner, a system that is aligned with the company’s vision and mission helps define business objectives, set priorities straight, address organizational issues, and facilitate a successful transformation.
