Assignment 6: Drafting Your Press Story This week’s assignment has two parts.
Please read the assignment instructions carefully and make sure you complete all aspects of this assignment before submitting your work.
Part 1: Create a Press Story
Create a draft for the press story component of your marketing plan. Based on your own situation (or the situation of a fictional artist) please answer the following questions:
Briefly describe your press story.
In what ways can you differentiate yourself?
How can you make your story interesting to writers?
Part 2: Identify Target Press Outlets
Based on the press story you created in Part 1 of this assignment and the demographics and psychographics of the artist, what press outlets make sense to target? If you are a touring artist, what local/regional press outlets will you target in the cities/regions you plan to visit on a tour?
NOTE: Your list must include at least 25 target press outlets. To help you with identifying some target outlets, you may check out this Newspaper and News Media Guide resource.
