You have been reading about the testing movement that is developing in psychology and the tests that were given to those immigrants coming in at Ellis Island. In recent years the idea of intelligence has changed dramatically with the theorizing that there is not just one “intelligence” to be measured, but that intelligence is possibly 3 to 12 different areas – each measured in different ways. What do you think of the idea of various standardized tests being used as an indicator of possible success by universities, primary and secondary grade schools, business and industry?
