Now that you have chosen
a topic and received feedback, the next step is for you to locate a minimum of three
additional sources, that are no more
than 10 years old; the more recent the better.

As you analyze the
arguments, the data/evidence, and the conclusions contained within your source
material, use the following guidelines in developing/structuring your paper:

·       A cover page that
at a minimum includes the title of your research paper, your name, the name of
the course and the date.  You can add other
relevant information if you desire.

·       An introduction
that includes a clear, succinct summary
of the topic you have selected, why it’s of broad social and/or scientific interest,
and what specific scientific question(s)
you are trying to address or what thesis
you are trying to test.

·       Within your paper
be sure to identify the kinds of data/evidence
you have found in your source material that are relevant to our current understanding
of your topic, acknowledging that not everyone in the scientific community will
completely agree. Include one relatively brief direct passage from each of your sources, being sure to properly cite
your references using APA style or another citation style with which you
are familiar.  The Cheng Library can be
helpful here as well, and they have many resources now available on-line.

·       Provide a brief conclusion that states what you have
discovered, and you can also include any ideas you have regarding future
research that might help resolve any remaining questions. Recall that science
is an iterative process, and new
developments are occurring all the time.

·       Be sure to include
a references cited page that
contains full citations for each reference you used.

Format

Your final paper should
be five pages in length, Times New Roman/12 point font, double-spaced, one inch
margins. Your cover page and reference cited page do not count toward
your five pages.
