NURS 340 CPE Project Part 3: Nurse Leader Interview

The clinical practice experience (CPE) project involves the creation of an evidence-based job description using the QSEN competencies. Part three of the project includes a nurse leader interview. The interview should include:

  • A discussion of current RN competencies and expectations of a new RN graduate
  • What the nurse leader feels is a strength of the current RN job description used at the facility
  • The changes the nurse leader feels should be made to better align with expected competencies
  • A discussion about nursing competencies and QSEN (be prepared to discuss the six QSEN competencies with the nurse leader)
  • The nurse leader’s opinion as to the importance of linking competencies to a job description

Following the nurse leader interview, prepare a 1-2-page summary of key points from the discussion and identify recommendations for the development of a competency-based entry-level RN job description. There is a 2-page limit so please be concise and clear. The paper must include a title page, introduction, interview summary, and conclusion. The paper does not require a reference page but must include proper citations for the personal communication.

Please review the rubric for grading criteria.

Please note: The Clinical Practice Experience (CPE) contract must be completed and submitted through the course Learning Management System (LMS), prior to the Nurse Leader Interview. If the CPE contract is not graded as “complete,” this assignment will receive a zero grade.
